For the second time in three years my Trans Am is in someone else’s shop to be worked on. I don’t like not being in control of her. Oh well, hopefully the new exhaust system will turn out well. I requested the installation of stainless 2.5” pipe, cutouts, an X-pipe, dual mufflers, and stock style exhaust tips.
I really need to take new photos...

Mufflers? On a T/A? That’s just unpatriotic. I dig the stock exhaust turndowns on these things, nice job sticking with that style. I want to hear the results!

Don’t worry your average muffler shop will most likely do a tip top job. Pretty easy not to fuck up an exhaust. However if your having your exhaust tig welded together you may just be paying more than you really need to..
My question is in regards to how your mating this exhaust to your headers ? V Bands ? Donut washer ? or is it one of those ID OD pipes that have the wrap around clamp?
Reason I’m asking is it’s about time for a new exhaust on the Datsun and it’s not that easy when there’s a LS wedged into the car.. I can’t take my headers out without removing the entire motor.

Probably just 3 bolt flanges with a gasket.

It’s got cut outs... close enough right?

Very nice. When I do my Camaro I’ll probably omit the cutouts and use glasspacks since I’m an Old and like the things that Olds like. As it is I’d like to at least get an H pipe on it.

That’ll do.

Where are you having them run the cutouts to?
I need to redo the exhaust on my 68. Would love to go to a flowmaster transverse muffler with a little bigger pipe.
